The social benefits and costs of NBS

Based on the framework in WP1, this task gathers and analyses evidence on the wider range of societal benefits beyond a project financial gain’s perspective:

i) environmental economic benefits – incl. resilience and insurance values, ii) social and health economic benefits and iii) wider impacts of NBS implementation on the economy. Also, disservices and trade-offs between NBS will be evidenced as well as impacts on different groups of the society eg vulnerable social segments. Evidence is sourced through: i) systematic reviews of peer reviewed and grey literature;

ii) expert elicitation using online surveys and workshops; iii) analyses from practice case survey in T2.1 and Living Labs (WP3) and iv) Input-Output modelling insights for EU-27 states.

Insights from Input- Output modelling will complement the qualitative findings on national/regional scale economic impacts of NBS but also analyse the potential for development of specific demand and supply chains in NBS.
