Towards market readiness - business, financing, and governance models

In this task we will host a series of on site workshops with the stakeholders in each of the Living Labs in Poznan, Cascais, Aarhus, Tirol and Norway to co-create sustainable business, finance and governance models for the NBS exemplars in each region.  We will look at the barriers and enablers on a case by case basis, examine the scale and type of NBS and what the most appropriate sustainable financing mechanisms might be What emerges will be an action plan for each region to pursue financing arrangements for their NBS, looking at public, private, philanthropic and community mechanisms as examples.   Of particular interest will be the identification of opportunity to attract private investment to co-fund the NBS exemplar. The task is expected to help each living lab secure financing for their NBS from new / alternative sources where feasible. Outputs An action plan for each Living Lab to realise new and diverse financing arrangements for their NBS Coaching guidelines for other towns, cities, and regions to develop finance and business models for their NBS of varying scales and types using the 5 living labs as case studies. Stakeholder input It’s always good to include multiple voices with different levels of expertise and skillsets in the co-creation of sustainable finance business and governance models for NBS.  What we attempt to do here is to break down the complexity around financing and create a common language for all stakeholders that enables them to speak with confidence about the financing required for the long-term sustainability of NBS in their community. Why we need stakeholder voices? We need to hear different ideas and perspectives from each Living Lab region. We would like to hear the voice of the community, the innovator, entrepreneurs, business, research, investment, municipality (and the different departments – for example environment, planning, enterprise, economic, health, education, tourism etc) The expertise, networks connections and ideas that stakeholders can provide will help shape the final business model. A multi-disciplinary team is encouraged – you don’t have to be a finance expert to take part! Your contribution: To take part in a one – two-day workshop in your Living Lab region where will co-design a sustainable finance business and governance model for the NBS. The exact dates and times will be posted nearer the time, but it is likely that this activity will take place between September and December 2024. (Task 5.1, July 2024 – Jan 2026, Horizon Nua, Joanneum Research, CCMC, AU, NIVA, and each of the Living Lab partners)
